Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2024
The Shire of Waroona has resolved to make the Shire of Waroona Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2024.
The purpose of this local law generally is to establish and maintain bush fire brigades and enable the bush fire brigades to carry out normal brigade activities under the Bush Fires Act 1954, its Regulations and the Waroona Bush Fire Brigades Local Law.
The effect of this local law is to:
- equip each bush fire brigade so established with appliances, equipment and apparatus;
- provide for the appointment or election of a captain, a first lieutenant, a second lieutenant, and such additional lieutenants as may be necessary as officers of the bush fire brigade and prescribe their respective duties;
- provide for the appointment, employment, payment, dismissal and duties of bush fire control officers;
- provide for the organisation, establishment, maintenance and equipment with appliances and apparatus of bush fire brigades to be established and maintained by the local government; and
- provide for any other matters affecting the exercise of any powers or authorities conferred and the performance of any duties imposed upon the local government by the Bush Fires Act 1954;
The local law may be accessed here or a copy may be obtained from the Shire’s Administration Office at 52 Hesse Street, Waroona, between 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
The local law was published in the Government Gazette on 6 August 2024 and will come into operation on 20 August 2024.
