Proposed Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2024

 

The Shire of Waroona proposes to make a local law relating to Bush Fire Brigade related matters.. 

The purpose of this Local Law generally is to establish and maintain bush fire brigades and enable the bush fire brigades to carry out normal brigade activities under the Bush Fires Act 1954, its Regulations and the Waroona Bush Fire Brigades Local Law.

The effect of the proposed Shire of Waroona Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2024 is to:

  1. equip each bush fire brigade so established with appliances, equipment and apparatus;
  2. provide for the appointment or election of a captain, a first lieutenant, a second lieutenant, and such additional lieutenants as may be necessary as officers of the bush fire brigade and prescribe their respective duties;
  3. provide for the appointment, employment, payment, dismissal and duties of bush fire control officers;
  4. provide for the organisation, establishment, maintenance and equipment with appliances and apparatus of bush fire brigades to be established and maintained by the local government; and
  5. provide for any other matters affecting the exercise of any powers or authorities conferred and the performance of any duties imposed upon the local government by the Bush Fires Act 1954;
