The Alcoa Waroona Micro Grants Fund (AWMGF) is now open, with not-for-profit groups within the Shire of Waroona eligible to apply.
Grant funding of up to $2,000 per project is on offer for programs and events that align with the Shire of Waroona 2030 Strategic Community Plan.
Established through a successful partnership between Alcoa of Australia and the Shire of Waroona, the AWMGF has proven instrumental in supporting community initiatives. The last round of funding was administered in August and supported six projects, with the Preston Beach Progress Association, Waroona Lions Club, Preston Beach Community Garden, Fishability, Lake Clifton-Herron Residents Association and Waroona Artists and Makers being successful recipients of funding.
Potential applicants are asked to discuss their ideas with the Shire’s community development team prior to making a request for funding. For those who may not have written an application before, the Shire is happy to offer support with the process and budget.
Shire President Mike Walmsley said the funding initiative went beyond simply providing financial support for local clubs.
“The AWMGF is about giving a boost to ideas, projects and events which have the potential to make our community even better. The grant fund can help organisations to do good and it can offer a kickstarter or ongoing sustainability for those initiatives that leave a lasting impact on residents and their quality of life,” Cr Walmsley said.
Applications for the AWMGF are open until 4.30pm on Thursday, 15 February 2024.
