As part of the WasteSorted E-Waste Infrastructure Grant, administered by the Waste Authority the Shire of Waroona commenced e-waste recovery at the Buller Road Refuse Disposal Site in mid-November 2023.
Together with Total Green Recycling the Shire was able to process 2,887kgs of e-waste with 88% of the total being diverted from landfill. This means only 394kgs of the e-waste sent for processing was classified as residual waste and sent to landfill.
The project has assisted the Shire in their commitment and dedication to objectives outlined in the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030.
E-waste recycling was always part of the plan for the Shire’s facility but with the assistance of the WasteSorted E-Waste Infrastructure Grant the Shire was to commence e-waste recycling earlier than planned.
Residents of the Shire of Waroona are encouraged to dispose of their e-waste by visiting the Buller Road Refuse Disposal Site.
